Carnival Monday is the day where the streets of Port of Spain are flooded with a huge crowd of carnival-goers in preparation for Carnival Tuesday.

Carnival Monday officially kicks off on Monday at noon for spectators but much earlier for masqueraders. This is the day where the streets of Port of Spain are flooded with a huge crowd of carnival-goers in preparation for Carnival Tuesday. The route of the parade is much shorter and it is a chance for the masqueraders to learn the route and get ready for Carnival Tuesday.

Monday Mas

On Carnival Monday, the streets of Port of Spain are dominated by masqueraders playing mas with their bands. Each one of these bands has their own music, costumes, alcohol and security. As a rule, most masqueraders will only wear basic parts of their Carnival costumes on Carnival Monday and the entire costume is saved for full display on Carnival Tuesday.

How Long Does Carnival Monday Last

The parade on Carnival Monday lasts approximately 8 hours! After the parade, there are various fetes taking place all night long through Trinidad while partygoers get ready for Carnival Tuesday.
