Piknic Électronik is a weekly outdoor electronic music event that takes place during the summer. It’s a weekly Sunday electronic music festival that aims to offer immersive, social experiences in a friendly environment. Established in 2003, the festival takes place at Parc Jean-Drapeau and features local and international DJ’s and producers. The festival concentrates on house and minimal techno, but all forms of electronic music are showcased. It is located in Parc Jean-Drapeau, an urban park just 10 minutes away from downtown Montreal.
Piknic Électronik brings together thousands of electronic music enthusiasts every Sunday from May to September. Piknic Électronik’s diverse programing has made it a highlight of the Montréal summer cultural circuit for over 10 years. The Piknic has helped Montrealers rediscover the bucolic charms of Parc Jean-Drapeau, its spectacular view of Montreal and its famous “L’homme” sculpture by Calder, who has become the international emblem of the event. From its humble beginnings attracting hundreds of insiders, Piknic has become a truly popular event that now averages 5,000 piknicers every Sunday.
Piknic Electronik is among the top attractions of Montreal’s cultural summer. Every year, more than 100,000 visitors attend this weekly event. The Piknic concept has expanded beyond Montréal’s borders. In 2012, the first Piknic Électronik kicked off in Barcelona, followed by Melbourne and Dubai in 2014.
