The Olympic Tower (La Tour de Montréal) is one of the most recognizable landmarks of the Montreal Olympic Park, which was built in 1976 for the Summer Olympic Games. Surprisingly, it is the tallest inclined tower in the world, standing at 165 meters high at a 45-degree angle. In comparison, the leaning Tower of Pisa only has a 5-degree lean. It also sometimes known as the Olympic Tower.
The summit of the Olympic Tower provides some of the most spectacular view of Montreal and the St. Lawrence Plain. This incredible panoramic view has earned the tower one of the best views of Montreal.
A visit to the Olympic Tower features a ride to the summit of the tower in a glass-encased funicular, the only one in the world that operates on a curved structure. It takes about two minutes to reach the summit and the cabin is kept leveled thanks to a unique hydraulic system. Visitors can reach the top of the Montreal Tower on a mesmerizing climb in a glass-encased funicular that holds up to 76 passengers.
Asides from the Olympic Tower itself, there is plenty to see and do around the Olympic Tower and the Olympic Park. You can visit various Olympic installations including the Olympic Stadium and a sports center that boasts seven pools for aquatic sports.
