The Trinidad Carnival is dominated by women! You will find women wining their waists on the Savanna stage throughout the carnival. The reason why women dominate the Trinidad Carnival is that Trinidad is a country dominated by women. And during Carnival, the women come out to play. All local Trinidad women attend the carnival. The only reason why a Trini woman will not attend the carnival is if she is pregnant or in actual childbirth.
Women’s Costumes for the Trinidad Carnival
Many women, local and tourists pay a staggering amount of money for a skimpy costume, which typically has to be purchased several months before the Carnival itself. Anybody participating in the Carnival is known as a masquerader. Women masqueraders can pay several hundreds of dollars to several thousands of dollars for bikinis and glitter. But this is all worth it when you consider that the costumes at the Trinidad Carnival are some of the most beautiful costumes that you will ever see.
Women in Costumed Bands
Women also outnumber men in most costumed bands. In many popular bands, particularly the popular ones, there are several female-only sections. Many live soca bands participating at the carnival will often have a lead female singer in tiny, super-low, satin shorts and skimpy, sequined top.
Women of all shapes and sizes at the Trinidad Carnival
Ask any man who has ever attended the Trinidad Carnival and he will tell you that one of the best aspects of Trinidad’s Carnival is its female domination. The Carnival features beautiful women from all shapes and sizes partying and having a good time. These women are a joy to look at, lost in the music on the Savannah stage. Some of these women are hard-bodied and fit while others may spill out of there costumes in rolls, but it does not matter as long as they are having a good time.
