Centre Island

Centre Island is a peaceful oasis located just outside of downtown Toronto. It is a wonderful island with over 600 acres of parkland just across the harbor from the city of Toronto. The island features bike and rollerblading trails, and if you are taking the kids, be sure to stop by the centre island amusement park. Highlights include a Ferris wheel, water park, miniature golf course, picnic area, train rides and a petting zoo. Centre Island is a car-free, public-transit-free area so there are no vehicles are allowed.

Centre Island Center Island is also home to many free festivals and events that take place during the weekends, particularly in the summer months.

Activities at Centre Island

There are plenty of activities to choose from at Centre Island. You will find many bike paths and bike rental areas. There are several beaches around Centre Island, including a clothing optional beach. The island also contains an amusement park, wading pools, boat rentals, swan boat rides, picnic tables, restaurants and ice cream vendors. It’s a wonderful area for family picnics, soaking up the sun on the beach, bike riding and so much more. Center Island also has its own amusement park and petting zoo.

Centreville Amusement Park

The Centreville Amusement Park is the most popular attraction on Centre Island. Centrevill Amusement Park contains more than 30 rides and attractions along with more than 14 food outlets. There is lots to do at the Centreville Amusement Park. Activities include the 1907 Antique Carousel, a Ferris Wheel, pony rides, bumper boats and the Centreville train. Centreville opens daily at 10:30am from June 1st to September 1st and all weekends in May and September, weather permitting.

Picnics at Centre Island

Centre Island is also a perfect place for a family picnic. Although there are several restaurants and food kiosks to choose from, they tend to be quite expensive and overpriced. That is why it is recommended that visitors bring their own picnic basket. Centre Island has plenty of picnic tables along with many green spaces that can be used for picnics.

For wonderful views of the city of Toronto, Center Island can’t be beat. Some of the most spectacular pictures of downtown Toronto can be taken from Centre Island. Centre Island is the largest and most popular island of the Toronto Islands. The other major islands of the Toronto Islands include Ward’s Island and Hanlan’s Point.

Getting to Centre Island

The best way to get to Centre Island is to take a ferry ride from downtown to the island. Although the ferry operates year-round, Centre Island’s are only open from May till October. Centre Island visitors can take a ferry at the foot of Bay Street at the Toronto Ferry Docks. The leaves every 15 minutes during the summer and the schedule is not as frequent other times of the year. Cars are not allowed on the ferry.
