Features of the Toronto Santa Claus Parade

Started in 1905 by the Eaton’s chain of department stores, with just a single float, the Toronto Santa Clause Parade has expanded to feature over 30 floats, 25 bands and more than 1,500 participants. The parade lasts approximately 90 minutes with the parade starting at 12:30pm and television coverage starting at 1:30pm.

Many Streets around the downtown core are shut down from morning to afternoon of the day of the parade.

The best spots to watch the Toronto Santa Claus Parade are on Bloor and the top of University, which happens to be the starting area of the parade. Keep in mind that these spots often fill up quite fast.

Driving and parking in downtown Toronto is already pretty stressful but it is even worst during parades and special events.
