It is Montreal’s cultural heart, boasting North America’s most concentrated and diverse group of cultural venues. The district is the year-round host to countless festivals and events, many of which include free outdoor shows and activities. The Quartier also hosts innovative urban installations involving cutting-edge lighting design, immersive environments or interactive digital spaces.
The Quartier des Spectacles is a one square kilometer area that is bounded by City Councillors, Sherbrooke and Berri streets along with Renée-Lévesque Boulevard. This is where many of Montreal’s largest international festivals are held. It is also the heart of Montreal's vibrant tourism industry.

At any time of the year, walking the Quartier des Spectacles features a discovery of lights. Either from the area itself or from the surrounding buildings such as the Monument National, theatre du nouveau monde or Club soda. These lights showcase the various cultural venues in the neighborhood and make it easy for visitors to find a show. There is also the wonders of Luminothérapie, a competitions in which artists create artistic experiences that give pleasure and capture the imagination.
The most famous landmark of Montreal’s entertainment district is the Place des festivals. The Place des festivals is an outdoor public place hosts festivals and large gatherings. It also features the largest array of animated and interactive fountains in Canada, with 235 water jets. The Place des Festivals also features the world’s most extensive set of architectural video projection facilities used exclusively for presenting artistic content.
The Quartier des spectacles is bordered by Saint-Hubert, City Councillors and Sherbrooke streets, and René-Lévesque Boulevard. Within this area, you will find 3 metro stations, 10 bus lines, 9 BIXI stations and 7 indoor parking lots. Access for people with reduced mobility is available on-site.
