The Melbourne International Jazz Festival is an annual Jazz music festival that attracts thousands to the city of Melbourne. With over 400 performers, more than 120 events – including many free events and various world premieres, the Melbourne International Jazz Festival is the largest and most diverse festival of its kind in Australia.

Free Shows at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival
During the festival, Federation Square features a series of free performances taking place daily at lunchtime (12 noon) and twilight (5pm). The Big Jam, which occurs on the Festival’s first day is another free convert, as well as the Opening Celebration Concert, and other free events like Metlink Musos, Evening Sound Walks and Sonic Showers.
The Melbourne International Jazz Festival was first held in 1998.
