Toronto FC was chosen because of the acronym \u201cFC\u201d, which is associated with soccer and great soccer clubs from around the world. The team colors are red and white and the team logo integrates the traditional shield with contemporary imagery.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

History of Toronto FC<\/h2>\r\n

Toronto FC was created in 2005 when Major League Soccer (MLS) granted Toronto a franchise for a new team. Toronto FC became Toronto\u2019s newest professional sports team on May 11, 2006. Toronto FC also became Major League Soccer\u2019s 13th team and began playing in April 2007.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Although Toronto FC is the latest professional team for the city of Toronto, the team has received great fan support and has given Toronto a soccer team to call their own. Because Toronto is such a diverse city with a love affair with soccer, there are already 16,000 season seat holders. Fans have already developed a special relationship with Toronto FC players, who provide intense, competitive soccer for the city of Toronto.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

BMO Field<\/h2>\r\n

Toronto FC plays all their home games at BMO Field<\/strong> along with Canada\u2019s National Soccer Team. BMO Field is Canada\u2019s first soccer-specific stadium located at Exhibition Place<\/a>. The facility contains a winter bubble which supports year-round usage. Located in downtown Toronto, BMO Field is easily accessible by both optionsof public transit: the Go Network and Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).<\/p>\r\n\r\n
