Yonge-Dundas Square<\/strong> is Toronto\u2019s central hub that provides a unique gathering place in downtown for locals and visitors to come together. Affectionately known as Toronto\u2019s Times Square<\/a><\/strong>, Younge-Dundas Square is one of Toronto\u2019s busiest common areas and an excellent place for people-watching and for catching free outdoor concerts throughout the summer. The square can accommodate community events, theatre events, promotions, concerts and special events.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Yonge-Dundas Square<\/h2>\r\n

Yonge-Dundas Square was created in 2002 as a public community retreat in an urban setting. Since opening in 2003, Yonge-Dundas Square has hosted more than 200 events and hosted over 1,250 festivals, events and community celebrations. The square is very often used as a concert and event venue, outdoor summer movie screenings and jampacked concert schedule. It’s Toronto’s main venue for free events, free music concerts and free fun.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Events at Yonge-Dundas Square <\/h2>\r\n

Yonge-Dundas Square is one of Toronto\u2019s must-see visitor destinations<\/a>. Every year, the Square collaborates with various business partners to animate Toronto\u2019s favorite public space with activities and events that delight and entertain. The Yonge-Dundas Square features an extensive events calendar<\/a> and various free activities throughout the year.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Features of Yonge-Dundas Square<\/h2>\r\n

When it\u2019s not used for special events, the square becomes a large open space, free for the public to enjoy. Yonge-Dundas Square features fountains that operate 24-hours a day, seven days a week. The square also features a raised stage, computer programmed fountains and large displays for accommodating events and concerts of various sizes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Getting to Yonge-Dundas Square<\/h2>\r\n

Yonge-Dudas is located in the heart of downtown Toronto in the South-East corner of Yonge and Dundas streets. You can get there by public transit on the Yonge subway line by exiting at the Dundas subway stop or the 505 Dundas Streetcar. You can also take PATH, downtown Toronto\u2019s underground walkway<\/a> linking 27 kilometers of shoppeing, service and entertainment. While at the square, make sure to check out the T.O. Tix booth, which sells discounted tickets to various productions occurring across the town. The Square is also located directly across the street from the popular Toronto Eaton Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Yonge-Dundas Square and Nathan Philips Square<\/h2>\r\n

Toronto has two important squares: Nathan Philips Square<\/a> and Yonge Dundas Square. While Yonge-Dundas Square is smaller, it is more popular than Nathan Philips Square, it is more well-known because of its central location.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
