The Ontario Science Centre is dedicated to promoting science to the public in a fun & exciting environment. The OSC is divided into major sections, including Sports, space, communication, a question of truth, kidspark, the Living Earth, Technology & Transportation, Science Arcade, Human Body, and Matter, Energy & Change.

Interactive Activities at The Ontario Science Centre

The Ontario Science Centre is one of the most interactive museums around. It features a large number of hands-on displays that will thrill both adults and kids. What truly makes the Toronto Science Centre unique is that it is a museum where participation is encouraged. There are many things to touch and manipulate and many of the themes and exhibits feature buttons to press. Throughout the museum, there are live demonstrations and visitors are encouraged to participate in the live demonstrations. Highlights off the OSC include the OMNIMAX Theatre and a recreated rain forest exhibit.

Visiting the Ontario Science Centre

The Ontario Science Centre has welcomed more than 40 million visitors since opening its doors in 1969. Every year, more than 220,000 students visit the Ontario Science, which presents them with the wonders of science and technology. Like most science museums around the world, the Toronto Science Centre has various exhibits, but what makes the TSC truly unique is its location. The Toronto Science Centre was built along the side of a hill. This means that when you move from one exhibition hall to the next, you’ll be taking an escalator further down the hill each time.

Exhibits at the Ontario Science Centre

The Ontario Science Centre features hundreds of exhibits in a variety of exhibition halls. Some of the more popular exhibitions include Communication, Sport, Human Body and The Living Earth, along with a film at the OMNIMAX movie theatre, and KidSpark, a learn-through-play area that is specifically designed for kids eight and under.

Activities at the Toronto Science Museum

The Toronto Science Museum has plenty of activities for the whole family. There are many floors and the place is quite lively. There are activities for kids, teenagers and adults. Many of the exhibits are interactive and quite enjoyable.

The OMNIMAX® Theatre

In addition to the various exhibits, the OSC contains an OMNIMAX Theatre, a giant IMAX dome that envelopes you with sound and image. The OMNIMAX theatre was added to the entrance of the OSC in 1996. It has since become one of the most popular attractions within the Ontario Science. At the OMNIMAX theatre, you can:
– Watch movies on a screen 4,500 times bigger than an average TV screen.
– Pick one of 320 cushy seats to comfort yourself down in.
– See a picture that’s really bright, thanks to a 15,000-watt xenon projector lamp that you could spot from the moon!
– Listen to wrap-around, six-channel sound produced by 44 speakers.
– Get an inside peek at the 900 kg (2000 lb.) projector.
– Discover how great moving images look when they’re recorded on 70 mm film (the largest size in film history).
– Feel the amazing effects of a screen that extends beyond your peripheral vision.
And lots more!

The Ontario Science Centre is Toronto’s most popular science museum and Ontario’s largest educational attraction.
