Located inside <a href=\"https:\/\/gotourismguides.com\/montreal\/mount-royal\/\">Mount Royal<\/a>, it is is the largest and also the most accessible park in Montreal. First opened to the public in 1876, Mount Royal Park (<em>in French: Parc du Mont-Royal<\/em>) was designed to provide an open green area where locals and visitors could enjoy outdoor activities right in the heart of the city. This jewel of greenery in the heart of the city is perfect for bikers, joggers or anybody who just wants some fresh air. Mount Royal Park is over 125 years old.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Created by the famous landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted (the same architect who designed  Central Park in New York City), Mount Royal Park boasts a vast network of walking paths and stairs that will lead to you a variety of wooded areas and landscapes. Magnificent lookouts offer breathtaking views of the city and region. Other features of the park are Beaver Lake, a small artificial lake; a short ski slope; cross-country skiing trails; a sculpture garden; and Smith House, an interpretive center.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>There are plenty of seasonal activities to choose from at the Mount Royal Park. During the winter, you can practice cross-country skiing with a great view of Downtown. There are snowshoeing trails, ice skating over the lake and tobogganing areas for children. In the summer, you can choose from cycling, walking, hiking and rollerblading. <\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Each year, over three million tourists and locals alike visit Mount Royal Park.
