Eureka Skydeck 88<\/strong> is an observation deck that occupies the entire 88th floor of the Eureka Tower<\/strong>. Eureka Skydeck 88 features impressive views of Melbourne from the observation deck of the highest viewing platform in the Southern Hemisphere at 285 m (935 ft). Located beside the Yarra River in Southbank, Skydeck 88 was opened to the public on 15 May 2007.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Skydeck 88 Features<\/h2>\r\n

The Skydeck allows visitors to take in magnificent views of the city of Melbourne and surrounding area. The Skydeck features various viewfinders that help visitors locate various attractions and landmarks around Melbourne. Some of the attractions that can be seen from Skydeck 88 include the famous MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground)<\/a>, the tennis centre, the football stadium and Flinders Street station<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Stunning Views of Melbourne<\/h2>\r\n

Skydeck 88 provides the best views of the city of Melbourne, so have your camera ready. The Skydeck also has several free binoculars to add to the viewing experience. When there are no high winds, a small outside area known as ‘the Terrace<\/strong>‘ is available to visitors. The Terrace is an outside, fully fenced viewing platform which heightens the experience.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Edge Experience<\/h2>\r\n

Eureka Skydeck 88 also features “the Edge<\/strong>“, a switchable glass cube which slides out from the building. ‘The Edge’ is a a glass cube which projects 3 m (10 ft) out from the building with visitors inside, suspended almost 300 m (984 ft) above the ground. When visitors enter, the glass is opaque and as the cube extends over the edge of the building, the glass becomes clear. During tourist season, you can expect long waiting periods for the Edge.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Eureka Tower<\/h2>\r\n

Skydeck 88 is located in the Eureka Tower. The Eureka Tower was the tallest residential building in the world when it was completed in 2006. The iconic tower features two dedicated elevators that lift visitors to level 88 in under 40 seconds.\r\nThe Eureka Tower features:\r\n

  • 52,000 sq m of windows<\/li>\r\n

  • 5000 tonnes of reinforced steel<\/li>\r\n
  • Building weighs 200,000 tonnes<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n
