Rip Curl Pro Surf & Music Festival

The Rip Curl Pro is an annual surfing contest that brings the world’s best surfers to Bells Beach in Torquay. This 11 day festival brings the world’s best surfers to the small surfing town of Torquay. Originally named the Bells Beach Rally in 1962, the Rip Curl Pro is the world’s oldest and most popular surfing contest, with a history of more than 50 years. Bells Beach is located on the southern Victorian coast.

Held during Easter, the Rip Curl is the only professional sporting event that is allowed to be held on Easter Friday in Australia. The 34 best male surfers on the ASP World Tour face off during this event along with one Rip Curl Wildcard and one local Victorian Wildcard. Along with the men’s event, the top surfers from the ASP Women’s World Tour compete in a separate event, as well as the world’s best 16-year-old surfers.

Along with some of the best surfing on the planet, visitors and surfers can take part in the many events that happen on land as well. There are many parties that occur all over the city in local pubs and bars. There are also various clinics that are held during the festival.
